Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I travel about 32km to and from school every day. Since I travel a little less on the weekends, I probably traveled about 175km this week.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I have not left Tokyo since arriving in Japan. Initially, I wanted to travel outside of Tokyo quickly, but after arriving, I decided I wanted to get adjusted to living here before exhausting myself traveling all over the place, so I'm taking it slow for now.

How did I get around this week?:

I have walked a lot here so far -- more walking than I have ever done in my life! I walk from my house to the station, from the station to campus, out to get food and more. Speaking of the station, I take trains everywhere. In Tokyo, the trains go everywhere. If you want to follow my train line to school, look at the maps for Kamishakujii Station (Seibu-Shinjuku Line) ---> Takadanobaba Station (Yamanote Line) --->Yotsuya Station (Chuo Line [Rapid]).  I take these trains to school every weekday.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

Akihabara was definitely the most interesting place I visited this week. Known as Tokyo's "Electric Town," this area of Tokyo is known for its Japanese otaku (geek) culture.
