Potatoes, Mayonnaise, and Tuna -- Oh my!

Journal Entry:

¡Hola, amigos!

I think the best way to learn about a new place is through its food and the people you meet while eating it. After a few weeks of exploring the food scene here, I’ve come to a conclusion: Spaniards love three things above all else: potatoes (patatas), mayonnaise (mayonesa), and canned tuna (atún). Within my first week, it was impossible not to notice. It took some adjusting, but I’ve come around, especially because so much of it comes free.

That’s my favorite part of Spanish food culture: with almost every drink you order, you get free food, often several rounds of it. These small plates are called tapas. Sometimes a server walks around with a giant tray of options for you to pick from (mostly potato, tuna, and mayonnaise based of course).
Most coffees come with mini croissants, and most coca colas come with mini empanadas!
Mini Croissant
