Assalomu aleykum (Hello!) from beautiful Uzbekistan. My name is Naomi, I am 26 years old, and I am from a small town in Kansas. Being from South Central Kansas, I grew up enjoying learning about all the cultures that are found in Wichita and other cities in Kansas. I also enjoyed visiting the library to read fascinating books on geography, as this was my way to learn more about new cultures in our world.
I graduated from Butler Community College in 2021 with my Associates degree in Russian. Then, I finished my undergraduate education at Kansas State University, where I double majored in French, International Relations, and Humanities, and I had minors in Political Science and History. I recently graduated with my Master's degree from the University of Kansas in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies. My Master's thesis focused on marriage traditions in Central Asia.
Throughout my studies, I knew that I wanted to focus on cultural studies, especially in post Soviet countries. I am truly greateful that I was selected to be a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Uzbekistan for the 2026-2027 academic year. I am currently teaching at the Namangan State Institute of Foreing Languages in Namangan, Uzbekistan. I hope to earn my PhD in Education or Cultural studies. My career goal is to work in the Foreing Service as Diplomat!
