My First Taste of Thailand: Pineapple Fried Rice

Introduction:

Hello! My name is Wafaa, and I am studying abroad in Thailand. I am staying in a city called Chiang Mai. In Thailand, people say Sawasdee, which means "hello." Can you say Sawasdee?

What food did I try?:

Today, I want to tell you about a food I tried in Thailand, called pineapple fried rice. It was served inside a real pineapple! When I saw it, I felt excited and curious.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I tasted the rice, it had many flavors. The rice was warm and salty. The pineapple was sweet and juicy. There were vegetables, eggs and crunchy nuts inside. Every bite tasted a little different.

How is the food prepared?:

To make the pineapple fried rice, first, the rice is cooked in a pan with vegetables and eggs. Fresh pineapple is added at the end. I got to meet the chef who cooked my meal. He owns the restaurant and was very kind. I learned that food is made with care and love.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Pineapples grow well in Thailand because the weather is warm and sunny. People in Thailand like to use fresh food that grows nearby. This is why pineapple is used in many Thai dishes.
