It all began when I was sitting down in my Food and Cultures class and I had to use the restroom. We were watching a documentary about the unsafe practices of food factories. When I left and came back, I saw another student coming out named Shoya. I remembered that I had met him one night at a restaurant with friends and he said he was a native Japanese person and he was going to study abroad at my university next year! I went to talk to him some more when he said he was going to get some fresh air outside. I joined him and, while we were outside, some of his other friends came to talk with us and one of them was a native Japanese girl named Ami. She studied abroad in Australia a lot and had an Australian accent when speaking English.
After that day, I ran into Ami again and we went to get Starbucks together. While talking, I told her I played guitar and she told me she was part of a duo named Agent Masami, which is made up of her and a guitarist named Masaya. Masami is a combination of both their names. Ami is the singer. After that, she said I could become a part of the group and that we should go to karaoke together, a popular pastime for Japanese people. Thus began my practice sessions with the group.
