My Autobiography

Clark gave me the opportunity to educate voters during the 2018 midterm elections by allowing me to volunteer for an election in the county. I was an academic intern for the Joseph Early Jr. campaign for District Attorney which was a unique experience because it was the first time Worcester county had a competitive general election for this position during the 21st century. I spent most of the campaign traveling to neighborhoods, knocking on each door to inform the residents who Mr. Early was and what the responsibilities of the District Attorney are. Our campaign received national attention as the ACLU began the, "Discover the Difference a DA makes," campaign where they put a spotlight on DA elections to inform voters of the importance of electing these officials. I am proud of my participation in the campaign as I learned how to coordinate multiple events at once throughout an entire city and also increase awareness of people's civic rights during an important election.

I decided to study abroad because I have never lived away from home for longer than a week and also hadn't traveled outside of North America. I wanted to challenge myself by being responsible for creating my own schedule and taking care of my apartment without assistance. I chose to attend school at Leuven, Belgium because they have a unique opportunity for bachelor’s students to write their own thesis which is normally reserved for Masters students through the Euro scholars Program. My thesis is about electoral politics, I am studying how political parties interact with one another in Belgium and the United States. Belgium and the U.S. have different types of democracies which means that the parties have varying roles during elections.
