Interview with Workshop Student

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

I have different hours almost every day, but school usually starts at 8:30 a.m. and finishes at 4 p.m.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I use public transportation, and since I was 15, I have been going to school alone.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at school in the classroom where my next class starts. My favorite food is mákostészta, a sweet dish made from pasta, poppy seeds, and powdered sugar.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Hungarian and we say "Szia"

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Lili, Lilla, Dorka, and Dóra.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study fashion design and costume design, which include both practical work and a design/brainstorming part. I also study art history, and we have classical drawing classes (still life, geometry, portraits, and figure drawing). We also have sewing practice, where we learn pattern making and garment construction. My favorite subject is costume-making because I like the themes and the freedom of technique.

What is your homework like?:

It is usually practical, like finishing projects, drawing fashion illustrations, or pattern making. Sometimes we also have digital homework, such as creating mood boards or presentations.
