Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

English is the main language, but London is very multicultural. You’ll also hear Polish, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and many other languages in different neighborhoods.

What type of money is used here?:

British Pound (£) my U.S. money is worth about $1.25–$1.30 USD per £1 right now, depending on the exchange rate.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water is quite expensive, in my eyes. £1.20 bottle of water would be roughly $1.50–$1.55 USD for a very small bottle of water. The size difference in the UK is quite noticeable; the fruit portions and the food portions/sizes are all smaller for a much more expensive price.

What was the best meal this week?:

At the faculty Chinese New Year celebration at Singapore Garden, we had Malaysian food, and the lobster was incredible! I will attach photos of the food, which was amazing. We had spring rolls, lucky salad, chicken, rice, and pomegranate marinated with peppers and chicken; it was all mouthwatering. I'm still thinking about the food!

What music did I listen to this week?:

Mostly R&B and chill vibes while exploring the city; I listened to Bad Bunny, positive affirmations, Bella Kay, the Neighborhood, and a few UK artists I discovered on Apple Music (Central Cee) .
