People like to gather in plazas and parks to play a round or two of soccer. I often see groups of kids or adults playing soccer when I walk around the city.Just this afternoon, I went on a walk in downtown Morelia, a city in the state of Michoacán. We visited the beautiful cathedral, and just outside, there were three boys playing soccer.
One popular spot in Mexico City is called Parque México. It has a large concrete plaza for concerts and dances as well as sports. People come here to take a dance class, walk their dogs, and play soccer. I like to sit on the edge of the plaza and people watch! There is always something to see and do at Parque México.
Our friend Josué plays soccer on a minor league in Mexico City. We met Josué and his wife Miriam at church. Josué went to high school in the United States and played soccer on the school team. When he moved back to Mexico, he really missed playing soccer and kept looking for a team to play with.
