Traveler Bio

Hello from Germany! My name is Megan, and I’m spending the year in Germany as an English Teaching Assistant through the Fulbright Program. I’ll be here from September 2025 to June 2026, and I can’t wait to take you along for the adventure!

I’m 22 years old and grew up in eastern Pennsylvania, not too far from Philadelphia. I graduated from the University of Mississippi last May with a degree in International Studies, where I explored global issues through classes in economics, history, and geography. I also studied German, which I now get to practice every day.

Back in high school, one of my German teachers was a Fulbright alum, and ever since then, I’ve dreamed of spending a year abroad in Germany. Right now, I live in Gießen, a vibrant university city known for having the youngest average population in Germany. There’s always something happening, from local festivals to student events. I work at the Johann-von-Nassau High School in Dillenburg, where I help make English lessons more interactive and connected to real life. My favorite part of teaching is answering student questions about American culture– everything from school dances and holidays to what I eat for breakfast. Outside the classroom, I enjoy hiking in the beautiful German countryside, visiting new cities by train, playing lacrosse, and meeting friends from all over the world.

I’m so excited to share stories, photos, and reflections from my life here in Germany with you. I’d love to hear from you, too! What are you most curious about when it comes to life in another country?
