Traveler Bio

Chào mừng các bạn! (Welcome everyone!) My name is Max Levine, and I am so excited to share my journey in Vietnam with you all! Currently, I am living in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. However, my true adventure starts when I travel to Sóc Trǎng, a small city in the far south of Vietnam, where I will be teaching English this year.

Before that, a little bit about myself! I am from Washington, D.C., originally, and moved to Maryland when I was 13. This year, I graduated from the University of Vermont (Go CATS!), where I studied Secondary Education. Eventually, my goal is to become a middle or high school English teacher. To become the best teacher I can be, I first want to see the world and experience different perspectives to grow as a person and an educator!

So, this is why I decided to apply and embark on the Fulbright program in Vietnam! Already, I have experienced culture shock just during my training. Whether it is the hours-long karaoke sessions, the communal attitudes of the people, the high-speed motorcycle taxi rides, or the sweltering heat, Vietnam has made an undeniable impression on me. I cannot wait to share more of my journey with you as I travel to a city that is even more different than what you and I know. I hope to hear and learn from your reflections as we experience this year together!
