My Favorite Food

Introduction:

Below I'll describe just a few of the foods that I tried in Singapore. I don't have pictures for all of them since I really like food, and by the time I remembered to take pictures, the food was usually already gone!

What food did I try?:

My favorite food was the pineapple fried rice served at the N.U.S. campus's Yusef Ishak house.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

This is the best pineapple fried rice I've ever had in my life, so nearing the end of my time in Singapore, I ate this every day knowing I might never have it again!

How is the food prepared?:

The food was prepared in a big wok by a cook. He would flip it really fast and it cooked pretty fast, so I never had to wait long for this dish. It was probably golden rice, cooked with pineapple juice, pineapples, and raisins. The raisins were partially rejuiced due to the juices and moisture in the dish, so maybe they were more like shriveled grapes!  Peanut shavings were added at the very end, plus a fried egg on top. It was delicious!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

I think the food was connected to the local culture or cuisine since it was a Thai stall within a small "Hawker center",  which is what they call their food courts staffed by small vendors, usually family owned.
