The Nerdy Adventure-Loving City Girl!

Having rarely been outside New York (and never out of the United States), one of my favorite things to do was to make my teachers talk about what it was like to live in Jamaica. When I turned thirteen, my family moved to another city - Yonkers, NY - where I started middle school. I was afraid at first, because this school was much bigger than my elementary school, and I did not know anybody. With time though, I made new friends. My interest in different people really grew here, because all my friends came from different cultures and had lived in different countries such as India, Ghana and the Dominican Republic when they were younger. In fact, I found this so interesting that I decided to go to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, so I could study psychology (the study of our brains) and anthropology (the study of people and culture). My strong love for learning about new places has also motivated me to live and study in Italy for three months!

I love school, but I love free time just as much. When I am away at college, I enjoy practicing taekwondo, which is a type of material arts. I also watch movies, play board games and eat with my friends. Some of our most fun times have been just horse-playing and sharing fun stories! One time we even climbed a tall tree on our campus! I also enjoy taking pictures of beautiful nature, interesting artworks and my friends and family – especially in Italy! When I am home in New York, I work at Legoland as a Lego model-building teacher and at a hospital in Manhattan as a volunteer helper, which takes up a lot of time. I still make time to spend with my family and take care of my dog and two cats. I also practice my newest hobbies which are card magic and skateboarding!
