Definitely a tomato, basil and brie (a type of cheese) sandwich I ate at a small bakery called Boulangerie Saint Hilaire I found near the Jardin des plantes (Paris Botanical Garden). Even simple foods, like sandwiches, are delicious in this city. I also loved the bread and pastries I ate for breakfast almost every day this week!
I’m a big fan of oldies. I’ve been trying to listen to French radio, which is more modern, but I still go back to the famous French singer Édith Piaf because she is such a classic. I have to admit, her song La Vie en Rose ("Life in Rosy Hues") has a sound that I completely associate with Paris. I’ve been playing Piaf songs while walking around, and it is incredible how much the music adds to the charm of this city.
I really enjoy letting myself wander around the city and exploring that way. Specifically, walking along the path by the River Seine was just a beautiful experience and gave me the feeling of walking in a space that Parisians have been walking in for hundreds of years. It is fun seeing all of the boats on the river, observing locals and tourists walking about enjoying their day, and it was incredible seeing the Eiffel Tower up close!
Signs. Lots of signs in the city with advertisements, rules of the road for cars, Métro signs, and even sign displays at the Paris Museum of Natural History. Online I have read some articles on the website of France24.com, a huge international news network based in Paris that broadcasts all over the world.
