Au Revoir (Farewell)

Understand that local customs may be different than you are used to, so try to not talk loudly or yell in public spaces. Remember that you are a guest in someone’s country, so you need to follow local rules.

I will leave you with a homework assignment: Imagine that you are visiting NYC for the first time. Where would you go, and what would you do there? What foods would you want to try, and what memories would you want to make? Your homework is to think about these answers and then see if you can go and do some of them yourselves. See, often when we grow up in a place or spend a long time living in an area, we don’t appreciate it as much. When we are visiting from somewhere else, it feels much more special. So, be an explorer in your own city! I can’t tell you how many people in France—and from all over the world—would love to visit NYC. You all are very lucky to be living there!

One final thing: I really enjoyed doing video conferences with you all and thought you came up with some really great questions about life in France. Thank you for being such an incredible class and for following me in this journey. As the French put it: au revoir!

P.S.: You may find something from me in the mail soon!
