I have only been in Ferrol since January, but in five short months this city already feels like home. Students at my school finish class on May 31st, and I will continue working until June 10th. After that, I plan to do part of the Camino de Santiago (or the full 800 km if I'm feeling adventurous). Then I plan to travel around Spain and Portugal a bit before heading home for the summer. In June, I will have to decide if I want to return to Galicia or not for the next academic year. My answer will depend on where I am placed, as I would really like to be in Ferrol or close to Ferrol again next year.

I think I can summarize my experience by talking about just two aspects of it, which are the nature and the people. When I first found out that I had been placed in Ferrol, I was a little disappointed. I had studied in Madrid before, and that is where I thought I wanted to be; but at the end of this experience of being in Galicia, I can honestly say that this place has stolen my heart in a way that Madrid never did. Let's break things down a bit...

First, the nature: Galicia in general is beautiful, but nothing compares to Ferrolterra (or the area around the city of Ferrol). Ferrolanos (people from Ferrol) will tell you that the city is nothing special.
