Some are successful and some are still looking. Youth unemployment is high, more than 35% of people under the age of 35 do not have a steady income. Without a job, it is difficult to provide for a family.
Over 5% of the kids who come to our clinic are found to be underweight or have stunted growth (being short for their age). Botswana is trying to get that number lower than 3%. We provide extra food rations of cereal to make sure there is enough nutritious food at home. We counsel the parents by providing information and support for difficult situations, and provide referrals for those who need additional medical care to improve their health. All of these services are provided free of charge to make sure everyone has a chance to grow up healthy. We can't fix all the problems, but we are heading in the right direction!
