There are other American English teaching assistants here in Dresden, who have also provided a lot of support and friendship to me. Since we are all adjusting to life in Germany, it is really helpful to talk and explore Dresden with my fellow teaching assistants. Together, we have found community events, such as an English language book club, which have helped us meet more Germans as well as other people from abroad who are currently living in Dresden.
Overall, I feel very fortunate that I have made several new friends here in Germany, and that I have several communities that provide me with friendship every week. These friends and communities have all been extremely supportive during the times when I am feeling confused or overwhelmed by adjusting to life in a new country.
