Traveler Bio

Olá pessoal! Hello everyone! My name is Madeline Griffin, and welcome to my journey in Brazil! I’m happy you can join me. Growing up in East Tennessee, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to pursue a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) in Brazil. I grew up passionate about music and theatre, but knew I wanted to keep expanding my worldview so I went to Emory & Henry College in Virginia to study International Studies, Hispanic Studies, and History after high school. My love of international perspectives, cultures, and languages began there, and led me to study abroad in Spain and Costa Rica.

After graduating, I taught English in Spain for a year in the Basque Country. Then, I continued my learning at the University of New Mexico. Pursuing a Master’s in Latin American Studies enabled me to build a greater understanding of Latin America, and opened up the opportunity to begin learning Portuguese. I am thrilled to continue learning and using my teaching skills starting this March as a Fulbright ETA in Brazil. Join me as I learn through this experience. I can’t wait to hear more about your stories in the process!
