Traveler Bio

Olá pessoal! Hello everyone! My name is Maddy, and welcome to my journey in Dourados, Brazil! I’m happy you can join me. Growing up in East Tennessee, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to pursue a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA). I grew up passionate about music and theatre, but knew I wanted to keep expanding my worldview, so I went to Emory & Henry College to study International Studies, Hispanic Studies, and History. My love of international perspectives, cultures, and languages began there, and led me to study abroad in Spain and Costa Rica.

After graduating, I taught English in Spain for a year in the Basque Country. Then, I continued my learning at the University of New Mexico. Pursuing a Master’s in Latin American Studies enabled me to build a greater understanding of Latin America, and it also opened up the opportunity to begin learning Portuguese. I am thrilled to continue learning and using my teaching skills starting this March as a Fulbright ETA in Dourados, Brazil. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all!
