Exchange programs like this increase access to learning across cultures and learning additional, critical languages like Portuguese and English. The Fulbright program opens doors of opportunity while contributing to the local community. I can’t imagine this experience without the community of people I’m forming here. Dourados is such a unique city, and every day I learn from my students and friends about this country, its languages, and the greater region.
I certainly still have much to learn, and I intend to do so. I’ll be here until November, and I’m already making plans to travel further into the Pantanal. My friends and I will also be traveling to the wildlife reserves and nature parks nearby. In the meantime, I’ll be learning and sharing as I teach, explore, create, and meet new people.
