Well, I have been here in Landau for about a month now. It feels strange, like I just got here yesterday. Everything still feels new and unexplored. There are new landmarks and neighborhoods to see every day, and new challenges, as well. It has been difficult, at times, to make new friends in the city. Class has not been in session for a while, so there have not been many people my age to meet. I have been lucky to have a few good people around to help me adjust, though.
I live with two men named Bjarne and Mätthi, as well as one woman named Mira. Bjarne studies Lehramt (Education) and likes to surf and watch American football. His favorite team is the Cleveland Browns. Mätthi and Mira both study psychology. Mätthi enjoys reading Lord of the Rings and Batman comics, and Mira likes to go out with friends and promote environmental causes. She is also a vegan. We all live and frequently hang out together. Sometimes we cook or go on walks, and I even got to watch football with Bjarne this past Sunday. I am really glad that I have these roommates, because I know it would be a lot harder for me to adjust to life in Landau without them. Living abroad (in other countries) is fun, but it can be very difficult to be away from family and friends back home.
