Meet a Local Basque Friend

Some people dress up more, but the younger generation is a bit more casual.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

In my free time I like to do nails, spend time with my boyfriend and go to the beach. I also really enjoy trying new activites and new places to eat.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Basque (Euskera), Spanish, English and a little bit of Chinese. To say hi in Basque it's "Kaixo" and to say hi in Spanish it's "Hola".

Do you have pets?:

Yes, I have a hamster named Gus who I love very much.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

I haven't traveled a lot because I always spend my vacations in my village with family in Toro, Zamora, but I would love to travel more in the future. I have been to Belgium, and this summer I am going to China for a couple weeks through a school program!

What do you do for work?:

I don't have a job, but I do nails at home for my friends sometimes. Most students find it difficult to work and go to college at the same time here, but some also have service jobs.

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

I hope you all get the chance to visit the Bilbao or Spain one day! It makes me happy when people learn Spanish or Basque before coming here, and I hope to learn more English for my future travels as well.
