The Portuguese Countryside

For young people, sometimes living in a small town means that there are not a lot of chances to go out to see a movie or theater, and there are not as many opportunities to find a good job.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Some Portuguese people are learning the trades of their families and keep the local farming or restaurant businesses open. Others are starting to see the natural environment where they live as an opportunity to show foreigners their homeland and make a living by growing tourism in these areas. In the end, though, some people also end up moving to larger cities or emigrating to other countries in search of more diverse opportunities.
