Other Nature News from this week:

I became a marine scientist at Heron Island Research Station! My research project explored how macroalgae (large seaweed-like algae) compete with corals for space on the reef. I also studied the tiny algae that live inside corals and help them get energy from sunlight. I wanted to understand how competition with macroalgae might affect these important coral partners. Who knew something so tiny could be so important to an entire reef environment?
