Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Korean (한국어) is the main language. In tourist areas like Seongsu or Myeongdeong, you see English signs and menus, but in local neighborhoods, it’s strictly Korean!

What type of money is used here?:

Korean Won (KRW). $1 USD is about 1,350 Won. It sounds like a lot, but it's their version of our $1.00.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

About 1,000 Won ($0.75). Very cheap!

What was the best meal this week?:

Spicy Pad Siew Beef ("Pad See You", it means stir-fry and soy sauce) in Seongsu. It is a beef stir-fried noodle dish from Thailand and it was from a "hole-in-the-wall" place. It was super spicy but delicious!

What music did I listen to this week?:

I listened to K-Pop, of course, especially the BTS tracks from their new album, "Arirang."

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Exploring Seongsu with my friends. It’s known as the "Brooklyn of Seoul" because it has so many cool repurposed warehouses and cafes.
