It, in particular, is full of hiking trails that rise into the hills and the mountains, put into context by the small village in a valley surrounded by tall mountains and small streams. This stunning landscape is mirrored by many other villages, and it is an environment that is almost always refreshing, especially when traveling from a larger city like München.
Contrasting these locations situated in the mountains are the lowlands that surround München. These areas feel a lot like north Germany, with their large farms surrounded by forests. There are so many small towns around München that have a lot to offer.
The larger cities in the area themselves are also still pleasant landscapes. Cities like Salzburg (Austria, not in Germany) are quainter when compared to any US city and are filled with attractions, such as monuments and the performing arts, as well as fireworks and events.
All around Bavaria, one finds churches and religious imagery everywhere. In any of the aforementioned locations, mountains, flats, or cities, they are present. One good example is Kloster Andechs, which is a monastery that is situated at the top of a mountain. Others include the various churches in Munich, particularly the enormous Theatine Church, which has a distinct open chamber with sculptures and depictions that are carved from stone.
