Shukraan ("Thanks") and Farewell!

Location:
Rabat, Morocco
Journal Entry:

At this time last year, my journey in Morocco was coming to end. I can't believe our journey is coming to an end, too! I learned so much while living in Morocco. The experience left me feeling inspired and ready for the next adventure. For me, that next adventure was moving to Washington, D.C.

As I prepared to leave Morocco, I could not believe how far I had come. When I arrived in Morocco four months earlier, I did not know a single word in Arabic. By the time I left, I was able to have entire conversations with my host family. When I arrived, Morocco was a strange and unfamiliar place to me. But as you all have read and learned, it quickly became a home.

As we say our farewells, I want to encourage you all to start doing three things in your life, if you do not already do them. First, I encourage each of you to step outside of your comfort zone. Even if it seems scary at first, give it a try! I was terrified when I moved to Morocco, but think about all of the amazing moments and experiences I would have missed if I had never gotten on that plane. Second, I encourage all of you to keep learning about the world. Whether it's through documentaries, books or blogs, keep learning! The world is so big and so beautiful, and it truly has so much to offer. And third, travel! I know it can seem daunting.
