Reflecting on My Regiomontana Experience

As one could expect, a city with so much productive power has economic ties worldwide. It is linked not only to the United States, but to places like Korea and Japan, which have moved the production of certain goods, like Kia cars, to Mexico. The state as a whole is also known for lending help, given its economic power, to the rest of Mexico whenever natural disasters strike. All in all, Monterrey is widely recognized as one of the most important cities in the northern part of the country.

Not only is the city mega-important, it is also really fun! Whether you are searching for cultural institutions, like museums, artisan shops or historic churches, a foodie experience that delivers not only regional delicacies but international options, or a fun party atmosphere, Monterrey has it all! I think one of the reasons that the city has such a wide variety of things to do is that part of the culture is innovating. There is always a new business opening: a new coffee shop, a new exercise fad or a new foreign activity being imported into the city. The people here are hard workers and big dreamers. It is common to see pop-up shops or food trucks that turn into brick-and-mortar businesses. Being here has inspired me to chase my dreams, even if they seem far-fetched, because I see examples of hard-earned success all around me!

This experience has shaped me in so many ways. I feel more confident in my work abilities, grateful for the genuine love I have for my field and curious about the future. If my time in Monterrey has convinced me of anything, it is that I need to keep traveling throughout Mexico. So much of who I am is attached to this place where my parents and grandparents grew up.
