It has a long, downcurved beak and is rather large for a bird found in cities.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

As someone who has grown up away from most beaches, I decided to take on the challenge of braving the rocky shores of "Manly Beach." The rocky shore is a unique terrain that is formed when tectonic plates and wave erosion act on exposed bedrocks along the coast. These forces cause the rocks to have large gaps between them, which can look intimidating for someone, like myself, who hasn’t been on them before.

Other Nature News from this week:

Earlier in the week, I took the "Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk." This walk is extremely popular amongst tourists as it takes you along a gorgeous six kilometer (three and one half mile) trail that starts and ends with two popular beaches in the city. Along the walk I got to see some great future beaches to visit that are less popular and less crowded.
