Why Study Abroad?

Back when I was still touring colleges in high school, I did not have a pre-existing plan to study abroad for a semester. After committing to Ithaca College, however, my advisor was quick to mention the possibility during freshman year, and it has been in my plans ever since! I do not travel at home often, so the opportunity to live in London for a semester, and thus have easier access to travel to the rest of Europe, was a big draw for me. I loved the idea of immersing myself in a new culture, learning a different country's history and gaining more personal independence. As I have mentioned before, I am studying at Ithaca College's satellite campus, so transferring credits was seamless and all the students are people with whom I have already gone to school for a couple years. Studying in London specifically also meant there was no language barrier to overcome other than certain terminology that differs between American and U.K. English.

Internship and work-placement abroad also offers a great opportunity to get professional experience in your respective country.
