Vegetables, fruit and grains are hard to grow. Most families have their own small gardens and orchards, but once winter sets in, they're stuck with the food they've stored over the summer. During the autumn, winter and early spring, people eat a lot of dried fruit, potatoes and onions. Then, during the summer, people go crazy eating fresh cucumbers and tomatoes straight out of their gardens.
