Windhoek in many ways is a modern city, like places in the US. Companies like LEFA start up because local taxis cannot serve everyone who needs a ride. Also with the heat, it is not always possible to walk Windhoek’s long distances. Smartphones are becoming more common in Namibia and other African countries (all the Namibians I work with have smartphones). LEFA shows how technology is changing Namibian culture, benefitting someone like me who does not own a car!
