I have traveled a lot during the last few months, so I wanted to stay close to Zvolen this week. The only place I had to take a train to visit was a city nearby called Banksá Bystrica. It is about 15 miles, or 35 minutes, away.
While living in Slovakia, I have been able to go to some really cool places! So far I have traveled to Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, France, Hungary, Norway, Denmark and Scotland! My favorite place so far would have to be Edinburgh, Scotland. The city is beautiful and has so much interesting history!
This week I mostly walked to the places I visited. Many people in Zvolen don't own cars because you can reach most places in ten minutes if you walk. However, I did take a train to Banská Bystrica to get dinner with a friend who is also in the Fulbright Program.
This week, I visited an art gallery inside Zvolen's castle. The castle is over 600 years old and is now part of the Slovak National Gallery. The art that is there is hundreds of years old and all of it was made in Slovakia, mostly designed to be decorations in churches!
