Holiday treats are a little different than the ones people in America make, but I still thought they were really good!
My students have given me tons of Slovak songs to listen to. One that I have listened to a lot this week is a song called "Piatoček," which means "Friday" in Slovak. I also listen to a lot of American music here, and I even think American songs are more popular with Slovaks than Slovak songs are. Some of my favorite singers are Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan and Lizzy McAlpine!
One fun thing my students and I did this week was make a snowman during class. They wanted to give the snowman an "American" name and decided that it would be called "Bob."
This week I finished a book called Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut. I actually took an entire class about him when I was in college because he lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, where my school was located!
One of my New Year's resolutions was to start dancing again. This week I did a lot of ballet in my living room, using YouTube to help me. I love dancing, but I am not as good as I used to be! Before I leave Slovakia, I would love to learn a traditional folk dance.
Something exciting that I will do soon is go to another school and teach. There are 14 other people lin Slovakia who, like me, are part of the Fulbright Program. One person from the Fulbright Program invited me to their school to do a lesson with them where we teach their students how to line dance!
