All About Sheep

Introduction:

Baaaaaa! What animal makes that sound? La oveja (the sheep)! I see sheep everywhere in Palestina, whether they're found out to graze in the community or in their owners’ fields/back yards, on market day, on house visits or on my morning runs.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The sheep I see usually have fluffy, white wool or are shaved. Their wool is often stained with dirt or grass from their grazing adventures. They are generally about the size of a large dog or a medium-sized human. However, there are also lambs, or baby sheep, who are much smaller and seem to get easily spooked.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

The first time I saw sheep in Palestina de Los Altos, I felt surprised. They were grazing in a couple of backyards of houses on my running route. I got a great surprise and did a little jump when one of them let out a loud “baaaaa” as I ran past! I like seeing them when they walk through the town center and the different aldeas (towns) to find spots to graze. It seems as though they are being taken for a walk. It seems like taking the sheep out to graze is a common chore for children in Palestina. Do you or anyone you know have any sheep or other farm animals? How do you feel about sheep?

Where does it live?:

Sheep live all around the world!
