Selamat and hello everyone! My name is Karis, I’m 22 years old, and right now I’m teaching English in a high school in Alor Setar, Malaysia. I’m originally from Texas, and Malaysia is a very far way from home--it took me almost 24 hours on a plane to get here! Alor Setar, Malaysia is a city that makes most of the rice for Malaysia. So, where I currently live there are a lot of green rice paddy fields and it’s absolutely beautiful.
Last May, I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied English literature, film studies and music. So in college, I read a lot of books, watched many movies and listened to all kinds of music! When I’m not teaching at school, I love to sing, write, watch Netflix and explore new places. Can't wait to digitally meet you all and share my experiences in Malaysia!
