Tasty Treats in the Netherlands

Once the components are prepared, the final product is made in much the same way as PB&J sandwiches; you spread the tasty interior and push the two sides together! The filling tastes a bit like caramel but, oftentimes, the main ingredient is honing (honey). The Dutch are also creative and use a variety of flavors. On my birthday, my friend bought a coffee-flavored stroopwafel. What flavor would you like to try?

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

To my knowledge, stroopwafels are not connected to the local environment. They do, however, come from a tradition of and appreciation for sweets and pastries. Stroopwafels fit well into Dutch culture. Dutch people are fond of tea and coffee breaks and stroopwafels are the perfect treat to have with a warm beverage. If you place the stroopwafel over the top of your mug, the steam will make the inside nice and gooey! Lekker (tasty)!
