Traveler Bio

Hello! My name is Kailynn and I am a U.S. Peace Corps Health Extention volunteer. The Peace Corps is a program that sends Americans all over the world to support communities through local partnerships and to spread world peace and friendship. I come from a beautiful, small town in Pennsylvania, called Doylestown and grew up with 1 brother and 1 stepsister. Since I was little, I loved learning, meeting new people and exploring the world around me. After going to college to study Psychology, my love and passion for learning about people inspired me to join the Peace Corps, where I now have the amazing opportunity to live in a small village in Limpopo, South Africa and continue learning about the world and more specifically about the Sepedi people. Our world is full of so many different cultures and traditions.

I enjoy learning from others and telling their stories to people who did not have the same experiences. I came to South Africa not really knowing much, even when I thought I knew at least a little. However, thinking I knew something at all was a mistake in itself, as we never truly know anything. I find every day that there is always so much to learn, that “education is not preparation for life; education is life itself- especially when it’s led by the learner” - Peter Gray. I believe in the immense importance of sharing the stories of the world, as they hold power to connect humanity, ignite curiosity, and celebrate the beauty and richness of our diversity.

Peace Corps Volunteers like me live and work side by side with community members around the world, collaborating on locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations. Learn more by clicking here.
