Our News

I had never seen that combination before, so it was fun to try something new!

What music did I listen to this week?:

One of my favorite artists happens to be from New Zealand! Her name is Lorde and she makes alternative pop music. It is super popular in the U.S. -- have you heard of her?

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week I went for a long run along the Dunedin Inlet, which is also called the Otago Harbor. It is a drowned valley, meaning that long ago it was a mountain valley above sea level, but as sea levels rose, the ocean flooded in and formed a harbor where the ground was lower.

The main part of the city sits at the end of the inlet, so boats travel through this long stretch of water to deliver goods to the area. There is a long walking and biking path along the inlet, and I love running there because it is flat and has beautiful views of the water.

What did I read this week?:

This week, I have been reading a book on geology to learn more about the geology of North America. Part of the reason that I came to New Zealand was to study geology, but it is fun for me to read more about the geology of where I'm from in the U.S as well.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I have been going on runs along the harbor. It is one of my favorite ways to explore and enjoy the scenery.

Other news from this week:

Everyone here is super friendly! When you walk past someone on a trail or sidewalk, they often smile or wave.
