Traveler Bio

Dobrý den (Good day) and hello! My name is Jubilee Marshall, and I work as a high school English teacher in a tiny town in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic is located in Europe, next to Germany. The central part of the country, where I live, is full of rolling hills and forests, and the mountains are just a few hours away by car. Because of the beautiful landscape, the Czech people love to be outdoors, whether they're camping, hiking, or even picking mushrooms!

The Czech Republic also has a rich and interesting history. For example, our parents may think of it as Czechoslovakia. That's because the Czech Republic and its neighbor, Slovakia, used to be one country. That changed in 1989, when a peaceful revolution led to the two countries splitting up.

Almost no one in my town speaks English, so I am working to learn more about the Czech language and the local culture. Everyone I have met has been so welcoming and kind! Even though I was nervous about moving to a new place, my new neighbors and friends have made it easy.

I hope that our experiences together will provide a closer look into life in the Czech Republic, and that we can explore and celebrate the differences and similarities of many places around the world.
