Travelling in Thailand

If I am taking an overnight bus, I like to bring a blanket because it can get very cold with that A/C blowing! The sky train, also know as the BTS, is a very modern form of travel in Bangkok. It is similar to the New York subway system. I also like crossing rivers on ferries or boats. When using motortaxi, you have to be careful and always hold on to the handle. I also have the most difficulty communicating where I need to go while riding on of these, so definitely know your Thai directions and place names whenever you use a taxi in this country!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The main form of transport connected to the Thai culture and environment is the boat and ferry system. In Thailand, there are many well-connected canals and natural rivers. Before cars, for centuries, this was the most popular and convenient way to travel. You could get almost anywhere in Thailand on a boat, and nowadays you can still see some of the most authentic Thai culture while travelling by boat. You can still reach many places by boat, but it is slower than by car or bus at times. This is why motor vehicles are the more popular way to travel today. Since Thai public transportation is efficient and has extensive services, people prefer it to any other form of travel. If you want to see the most rural or natural parts of Thailand while traveling, I recommend the trains because while the train may be slow, it can be quite scenic and is still in use even if the infrastructure for it is older than the roads.
