Songkran - The National Water Fight!

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

This tradition is heavily connected to the fact that rain is or will be coming. In Thailand and S.E. Asia, this season is also known as the monsoon season. Historically, people looked forward to this time of year because their crops would become the most bountiful. Even today, Thailand is a major producer and exporter of agricultural goods. In fact, the Thais export much of the rice and many of the  pineapples, and coconuts we like to eat in America! It is for the same reasons of agricultural productivity that many other Asian countries have a similar “water fight” celebration around this time.
