Pasta, pizza and gelato are some of the yummiest foods you can eat. Did you know all three come from Italy? In Italy, sharing a meal is a way for people to spend time together and have fun.
For breakfast, many Italians eat a small meal, like a pastry and a cup of coffee. At lunch, people often enjoy a sandwich with prosciutto, which is a type of ham. Some sandwich shops in Florence are so popular that people wait in line for ten minutes to half an hour! Before dinner, Italians like to have a little snack, called an aperitivo, to relax with friends. Dinner in Italy usually happens later, around 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. at night. Needless to say, eating in Italy is about talking with family and friends while enjoying a delicious meal!
Some of the delicious foods I have tried while here include tagliatelle alla bolognese pasta, margherita pizza and gelato, which. is a lot like ice cream but creamier!
The tagliatelle alla bolognese pasta is a meat sauce pasta. The pasta got its name from a city in Italy called Bologna, because that’s where it was first made.
Margherita pizza is made of mozzarella, tomato sauce and green basil leaves. This particular pizza I had was a mini version, and it was quite delicious!
