T-Money and the Metro

Introduction:

Commuting around Seoul. South Korea is simple! There is public transporation, or private taxi, or Korean Uber. The traffic and metro lines in Seoul are very similar to the traffic and metro lines in New York City. If you can handle the New York City subway, you can surely handle the Seoul Metro! Let's find out more about transportation in Seoul!

How do people get around?:

People can either take the metro, the bus, or a taxi to get around Seoul. The most popular and cheapest mode of transportation is via public transportation. It is cheaper and more convenient to pay for the bus fare using a T-Money card. With the T-Money card, the bus fare is 1,250 KRW. You must reload the card using won; you cannot use a credit card to reload your bus fare. Won is the name of the currency here!

The T-Money card is thicker than the MTA card. Instead of swiping the card, you simply tap the card to pay your fare. You can buy a T-Money card from any convenience store. Each store has different card designs to choose from!

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Often times, I am tired and want to fall asleep on the metro, but I keep myself occupied by paying attention to each stop. Time flies by and it is easy to miss your stop! Luckily, the metro provides the stop names in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese!
