Welcome to the Mekong Delta

Most Vietnamese restaurants in the United States serve pho, so I highly recommend trying it if you have the chance!

What music did I listen to this week?:

I listened to a variety of music this week, including Chance the Rapper, Eagles, Bruce Hornsby, John Mayer, Bob Dylan and the Vietnamese music that always plays in coffee shops (I don't know the names of the artists or songs). I often listen to music when I'm relaxing in my house. Earlier this week, my students asked me if I like to dance. I responded: "Yes, of course." They proceeded to ask me if I could dance to a traditional Vietnamese song. I didn't want to let them down, so I danced to a traditional Vietnamese song while one of my students sang the karaoke version. My students thought it was hilarious.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Yesterday afternoon, I played basketball at the university courts with my students. Basketball is my favorite sport, so it was fun to play a pick-up game for the first time since I've been in Vietnam. Soccer, tennis, badminton and volleyball are the most commonly played sports in Can Tho, but basketball is growing in popularity. There is even a new professional basketball league in Vietnam called the Vietnamese Basketball Association (VBA). Can Tho has a professional team called the Can Tho Catfish. The games are really fun to attend. I always look forward to the dancing catfish during the halftime performance!

What did I read this week?:

I just finished reading "Pride & Prejudice" by Jane Austen and started reading the first Harry Potter book a few days ago. As a kid, I never read the Harry Potter series, and I recently had the urge to start them.
