If you prefer something sweet, you can get one with chocolate, bananas or strawberries. If you're more in the mood for something savory, you can try one with cheese, ham or even an egg.
Of course, France is also famous for its cheese, or fromage. There are many different varieties, and cheese is an important part of French food culture. Another traditional dish I've noticed is steak frites, which is simply steak served with French fries, sometimes with a sauce on top.
One of the more surprising French specialties is escargot, a dish made from cooked snails! They are traditionally prepared with garlic, butter and parsley. Although eating snails might sound unusual to some people, escargot is considered a delicacy in French cuisine. It's a great reminder that foods considered normal in one culture might seem surprising to people from another.
I have really enjoyed discovering the different foods Paris has to offer, but crêpes have definitely become one of my favorites! I love how something so simple can have so many different combinations of flavors. Whether I'm craving something sweet or savory, there's usually a crêpe that sounds good.
I also love how easy they are to find throughout the city. Whether I'm exploring a new neighborhood or just walking around Paris, there's usually a place selling them nearby. They're affordable, delicious and one of the simple things that have made living in Paris so enjoyable.
What has surprised me the most, however, is how much variety there is in the food here.
