The weather was beautiful this week. In Atenas and Mastatal, it's the dry season, which means there is little rain and lots of sun.
At the farm, I saw scarlet macaws in a tree. These birds have beautiful rainbow coloring. I also visited La Cangreja National Park, where I saw a poison dart frog and a bat sleeping under a leaf.
While in the national park, I found blue butterfly wings in the leaf litter. The wings had a metallic shimmer and changed from blue to purple in the sunlight.
We looked for bats asleep under leaves. I learned that bats modify leaves to make their own tents. They will cut the leaves in a V formation to make them fall and cover them.
