Hi! My name is Hope and I am from both Minnesota and Arizona. I earned my bachelor's degree in Political Science through Arizona State University, and I am currently serving as a Peace Corps Education Volunteer in the Dominican Republic.
In college, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, for six weeks during the summer.This was my first time traveling outside of the United States, and I did it completely on my own, though eventually I made friends with members of my cohort! Those six weeks in Spain showed me how big the world is and how many adventures are left to be had. I started looking for other opportunities to travel and make a difference while doing so, which led me to apply for the Peace Corps.
As an Education Volunteer, I work in a school with children and teach them how to read in Spanish. I also have various projects on the side within my school and am currently getting ready to finish up my service in October. I have spent the past two years traveling around the country, seeing amazing sights and meeting even more amazing people. There are many other volunteers in the country, and I am able to visit my friends every month for R&R (Rest and Relaxation). These past two years have convinced me that the Dominican Republic is the most beautiful country in the world, and I am excited to share its rich and beautiful culture with you all.
