Getting Around Amman

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Amman is full of hills and often takes awhile to get to and from one place to another. For example, it takes me at least 20 minutes to get to and from work.

Most people I know who are residents drive their own car. The few who don't have a car typically use Uber or Careem. An observation I've made is that owning a car here is connected to the feeling of freedom. When one owns a car, they can avoid the hassle of using public transportation and spending money on app-based services.

Many people I know spend a lot of time in the car to socialize. When I went to school at Princess Sumaya University, many students often sat in their cars in the parking lot to socialize. When I am hanging out with friends in Amman, sometimes we find ourselves sitting in the car overlooking a beautiful view of the city. We also tend to go on joyrides at night, listening to our favorite music and exploring the city.
